How to run two WhatsApp accounts on one phone

Last updated: August 2026 · 4 min read

WhatsApp Plus installs alongside the official app rather than replacing it, because it uses a different package identifier. That means two active numbers at once, each with its own chats, notifications and backups, without Parallel Space or your manufacturer's dual-app feature.

Step by step

  1. 1
    Do not uninstall official WhatsApp

Leave it exactly as it is, running your main number.

  2. 2
    Install WhatsApp Plus

Download APK 18.80 from the main page and install it following the installation guide.

  3. 3
Open it with your second number

On first launch, enter the number you want as your secondary account, with its country code.

  4. 4
    Verify by SMS

Enter the six-digit code sent to the second number. If that line is in another phone you will need to check it there.

  5. 5
    Configure each app separately

Set notifications, tone and privacy independently in each app so you do not mix them up.

  6. 6
    Tell them apart visually

Change the mod's icon and theme so you can distinguish them at a glance on your home screen.

Tips and warnings

  • Each app strictly requires a different phone number; the same one cannot be duplicated.
  • Without a second SIM you can use a virtual number, though some services are blocked by WhatsApp.
  • Keep separate backups: the mod's does not replace the official app's.

Questions about this guide

Can I use the same number in both apps?

No. WhatsApp allows only one active session per number; verifying on one closes the other.
